Author Bio:
Sierra Hill wrote her first full-length romance after a corporate acquisition led her to a stint of unemployment. Since self-publishing her first book in 2014, she’s found her creative passion, writing about the fictional characters that live in her brain, who constantly shout for their own love stories to be told.
Sierra frequently indulges in what some might consider to be an unhealthy dose of reading, dark chocolate goodies, and way too much coffee. She hates cold weather, and frequently finds herself traveling around the country to see her favorite live musicians in concert.
Sierra resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband of twenty years and her long-haired, German Shepherd. She is currently working on her next book.

Book Blitz: COPPER VEINS by Jennifer Allis Provost

Copper Veins
Jennifer Allis Provost
(Copper Legacy #3)
Publication date: July 26th 2016
Genres: New Adult, Urban Fantasy
Sara’s pretty sure her life is perfect.
Not only are she and Micah finally married, her father, who’d been missing since the Magic Wars, has been found. Actually, he just strode up to the manor’s front door, but whatever. Sara knows better than to look a gift horse in the mouth.
But Baudoin Corbeau isn’t content to return to family life. He’s decided that he will be the force of change in the Mundane world, and lead the Elemental resistance to victory with his children at his side. What’s worse, Baudoin doesn’t approve of Sara’s marriage, and makes every attempt to separate her from Micah.
After a visit to the Mundane realm leaves Sara, Max and Sadie imprisoned by the Peacekeepers, Sara’s doubts creep to the surface. Is her father right? Does she belong in the Mundane realm, not the Otherworld? Is Micah really the right man–make that elf–for her?
Was marrying him a mistake?

EXCERPT:
We walked all the way back to the manor instead of traveling by the much faster metal pathways. While he didn’t say as much, I understood that Micah wanted the extra time to clear his head, and I was content to while away the rest of the morning with him. “I’m still a bit… grumpy about being cheated out of our wedding night,” I muttered as we walked.
“Grumpy?” Micah repeated. We’d stopped beside a stream to relax and splash some cool water on our faces. “That is not quite the word I would have chosen.”
“Really?” I’d found a stubby branch, and was doodling in the mud while I sat on a rock, my back to the water. “And what word would you choose, General Silverstrand?”
“Hush. I have not filled that role for a long, long time.” He leaned over and nuzzled the soft spot behind my ear. “Lonely. Bereft. Frustrated. Unmarried.”
“Micah, it’s only been one night.”
“Yes, but until our marriage is consummated, we are not as one. The officiant said as much during our ritual.”
I recalled the actual words of the ceremony—at the time, I’d been too elated to dissect their meaning, but Corporal Rawson had said, “And once you know her as your wife, you are forever joined as one.” I hadn’t realized that that was what they meant, but I suppose it made sense. At least it was an easier requirement than babies.
“Are all marriages like that?” I asked. I felt Micah’s mouth curl into a smile.
“I don’t know. I have only been married once.” He nipped at my ear and added, “As for this marriage, I know that I must lie with you to seal our vows.”
“Well,” I murmured, stretching my neck for more kisses, “I guess we’d better get on that.”
“I agree.” Micah leaned forward to kiss me on the mouth, but he halted when he saw the result of my mud doodles. I had stabbed and slashed at the ground until it looked like a rabid buffalo had churned up the soil. “Sara, what is troubling you?”
Normally, I would have denied any troubles in favor of more kissing, but that’s pretty hard to do when the evidence is right in front of you. “Do… do you think it’s weird that Dad just showed up? I mean, we’ve been looking for him forever, and he just walks right up to the front door?”
Micah pursed his lips, taking a deep breath before he replied. “Weird? Perhaps. However, your father’s return is an unprecedented turn of good fortune. And on our wedding day, no less.”
“I love it when you say that.”
“What?”
“‘Our wedding day.’”
Micah took the stick from me and pulled me to my feet. “Soon, I will be telling you about our wedding night.” He tossed the stick into the stream and tugged me back toward the road and the manor. “Come, my love, my wife, and let me bring you home.”

Jennifer Allis Provost writes books about faeries, orcs and elves. Zombies too. She grew up in the wilds of Western Massachusetts and had read every book in the local library by age twelve. (It was a small library). An early love of mythology and folklore led to her epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, and her day job as a cubicle monkey helped shape her urban fantasy, Copper Girl. Book Blitz: STATE OF FEAR by Summer Lane

State of Fear
Summer Lane
(Collapse Series, #8)
Publication date: June 24th 2016
Genres: Dystopian, New Adult
The world has gone nuclear, and the militias have met their first major defeat.
Torn and desperate, Cassidy Hart and her team make a difficult decision to relocate their forces to the cold, barren wilderness of Alaska. In the snowy mountains of the Gates of the Arctic, Yukon City has become a stronghold for survivors of the apocalypse.
Or has it?
Commander Chris Young remains in California to combat the shadowy forces of Omega, while Cassidy attempts to rebuild the militia’s strength at Yukon City. Uriah True has ideas of his own when it comes to surviving, and the militias are splitting apart.
Veronica Klaus is unleashing hell upon the west coast. The true, terrifying nature of Omega is revealed at last. A dangerous, desperate move is made to find reinforcements and seize a weapon that could give the militias an upper hand.
The downside?
It just might kill everyone on planet earth.
Cassidy, Chris and their friends have made it this far.
How much longer can they survive?
How much longer can the world survive?
Q&A WITH SUMMER LANE
This is the 8th book in the Collapse Series. How do you keep the storyline and world going this far into the series?
The issue with Cassidy Hart is not running out of stories – it’s containing them! Cassidy’s world is monstrously huge and the options for story pathways are endless, so I really had to zero in on what I wanted the eighth book to be. In terms of technicality and research, this was a challenging book – but it was also exciting to write. I was able to utilize some elements that I have wanted to use for a long time, like submarines and ice…trust me, it’ll make sense when you read the book!
Do you find it difficult to write about one set of characters for ten books?
No, I don’t. The longer you’re with your characters, the better you get to know them. In this case, I have had the opportunity to get familiar with my characters to such a level that their development and characteristics are incredibly organic. It’s a real blast!
Are you Team Uriah or Team Chris?
A lot of people like to think that Uriah is the perfect guy for Cassidy – while some much prefer Chris, since he is the original male lead (and he’s pretty awesome, in all honesty!). I have my own secret thoughts on this subject, and I don’t like to project my opinions on such an emotional element of the series. I leave that to my readers. But I will say that, in the end, Cassidy is a strong woman who doesn’t need anybody. She’s one of those kickass characters that can survive no matter what – and anyone she falls in love with is just a bonus. I don’t say to belittle the importance of the male leads, but to stress that Cassidy is just that kind of character at this point in the series.
What’s with the title? Why ‘fear?’ What’s there to fear in this book?
The title is really a projection of the underlying theme of this book. My characters are thrust into a type of warfare that’s really unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. They go to the barren wilds of Alaska, where the icy glaciers surround them and the dark winter solstice blots out the sun. Omega could kill them all – so many terrible things have happened, and could continue to happen. Cassidy is doubting herself and her relationships. This book is about exploring all of those fears, and then figuring out if our heroes are going to succumb to the darkness or stand up and kick its butt. It’s gritty, it’s dark and it’s intense. It’s my kind of story, and that’s why I wrote it.

Book Feature: Something Eternal by Joel T McGrath PLUS Excerpt and Giveaway

SE

Today we're featuring Joal T. McGrath's SOMETHING ETERNAL. Check it out, and don't forget to enter the rafflecopter at the end of the post!

something_eternalSomething Eternal

Life without love is fire without flame....

In our time, wonder has disappeared. Most believe in what is seen, others in what is heard, yet a few know something eternal guides them.

When Vincent steals his older brother’s girl, Noemi, someone is going to die. Three lives, once ascending to greatness, are pitched into chaos. Jak, after months of searching, finds his younger brother, Vincent, while Noemi faces certain death. On one hand, Vincent can save her, yet others will die for their love.

Hearts prided on rational choices waver. Logic conflicts with reality, and emotion, not reason, decides the future.

 Excerpt

Sweating heavily, Vincent threw the blankets off his bed. The room was dark, yet emitted sunny splices of midday heat. Beams of light shot through his blackout curtains. The temperature in the tiny, empty room rose with each passing minute. His eyes shifted back and forth beneath closed lids. He was dreaming, but not just dreaming, something eternal was guiding his dreams, feeding him purposeful, random memories of recent days.
Vincent’s eyes shifted rapidly from side to side.
Random words and pictures of his brother, Jak, his girlfriend, Noemi, and his master, Malum, sped through his mind in echoes along with his own confused thoughts and feelings. Most of all, he dreamt about that terrible night not long ago in the New York City subway station. His bitter memories and sweet dreams merged, returning nightmares upon his unconscious soul.
Vincent dreamt about the golden wheat fields. He was hand in hand with Noemi. She smiled with a sort of playful lust. He grabbed her hips and kissed her inviting lips like a man that wanted something more. He held her by the waist, but she disappeared from his hands. Falling droplets of cold rain descended from a sea of dark clouds. An ominous sky choked out the last remnants of the sun’s glimmering rays, and thunder rolled in on him.
Vincent was suddenly in a foggy haze by himself. Words and pictures floated around on all sides, but none stayed very long.
“I love you more than anything, Noemi.”
“Have you ever wanted something so badly, but no matter what, you couldn’t have it?”
“I’m the one that loved you like no one else ever could.”
“Vincent, help me!”
Suddenly, Vincent found himself in a black room and then in an abandoned subway station. The dream broke from memory for a moment, and whispers cluttered, fading low and loud in a never-ending circle.
“Noemi’s filling your head with lies.”
“She loves me. I bet that just kills you, doesn’t it, bro?”
“Stop being an arrogant little prick.”
“Don’t forget, little brother, I win. I always win!”
“Stop calling me little brother!”
“You are a lost soul in a lost world.”
“I’m not obsessed. The Shroud, the knights, they’re all lying to us.”
“You’re selfish.”
“Don’t go back. Malum will kill you!”
“I’m sick of your empty promises.”
“Malum’s too powerful.”
“I’m risking my life to be with you.”
“I certainly don’t need a man to save me, never mind a boy.”
“What other stuff are you hiding from me?”
“You’ve changed. Jak never treated me like this.”
“Well, I’m sorry I’m not him!”
“I bet you really did kill Jak.”

PO
EXCERPT:
“She used to tell me that a full moon is when mysterious things happen and wishes come true.” I stared at the little paper in my hands. “Do you think she tells my sister those stories?”
Daniel didn’t respond. He only listened. I had told him before I had a sister. He had probably assumed I lied, but I hadn’t. It was the truth, and it tumbled out like a story my mom created before bedtime. I tried to picture her telling stories to my sister, but nothing came. I only saw the little girl, with Mom’s hair and Dad’s eyes, standing in the road, saying my name.
“I’ve never met her,” I confessed, staring at the writing bleeding through the folded end. “I think her name is on this, but I can’t read.”
Daniel reached for it. “I can—”
“No.” I held the note against my chest. “I want to learn and read it on my own,” I explained, softer than my previous snap.
Daniel’s head tilted. “Robert never taught you.”
I wasn’t sure if it was a question or a statement, but I responded anyway. “He can’t read.”
Daniel’s eyes swept over me. He took the time to rub his face before looking away.
“He can’t read,” I repeated, studying his reaction. “Right?”
Daniel’s hand lowered to his lap. “I can teach you,” he said, and when he faced me again, he was remarkably closer than I realized. His hand moved to rest on my knee. My heart stabilized. “What else do you want?”
It was a question I had never heard before, and the way Daniel stumbled over the sentence suggested he had never been able to say it before either. Bad bloods weren’t allowed to want anything. Not even life. So, when I was asked, my mind spiraled into obscurity, never actually solidifying an answer even though I searched for one.
“I’ve never been allowed to want anything,” I confessed.
“Me neither,” Daniel agreed, and for a brief second, I was oblivious to the fact that his lips were on mine.

Author Interview: London Setterby author of SET ME FREE

Set Me Free
London Setterby
Publication date: July 8th 2016
Genres: Gothic, New Adult, Romance
Miranda Lewis is desperate to get away from her controlling ex–so desperate she leaves him in the middle of the night. She ends up on a remote island off the Maine coast, where she befriends a bubbly shopkeeper, Claire, and becomes fascinated with Claire’s son, big, brooding Owen Larsen, a woodworker who keeps to himself. Even the friendliest locals here are secretive–and Owen is at the center of their secrets.
Still, Miranda loves the salt air, the craggy coastline, and, most of all, the work of the island’s beloved local painter, Suzanna White. Miranda wants to stay–to claim a life of her own, to paint again. But the longer she stays, the more her fascination with Owen increases. Why is there a painting of his stern, handsome face in the art gallery by the beach? And why is everyone so afraid of him?

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hi, London! Welcome to We Do Write. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, all! Thanks so much for having me. I’m a lawyer and art nerd from New England. Set Me Free is my first novel.

Tell our readers a bit about SET ME FREE. What’s the story about?
Set Me Free is about twenty-four year old painter Miranda Lewis finally leaving her controlling ex; the mysterious Maine island she ends up on; and the man everyone on the island is afraid of. It’s a contemporary reimagining of classic Gothics, with the brooding hero, the innocent heroine, and the dark and mysterious setting.

How did the idea of the story come to you?
It actually came in part from a dream I had about a young woman driving to Maine in the middle of the night and meeting a woman (with a ton of dogs) and her son in a small country store. I have done a fair amount of criminal law over the years, and a case I was familiar with ended up working its way into the novel, too.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I am basically a plotter. I use Mary Carroll Moore’s W-Method, which is big-picture storyboarding. I like to get the big stuff down, and then I sometimes bullet point upcoming scenes as I write, too. I try not to fence myself in, just give myself a roadmap.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?
Hmm, this is a great question, actually. I think basically everything about writing is hard. I’ve focused on leveling up in different ways at different times--going through phases where I worked hard on writing better characters, for example, or where I was really tuned in to writing better on a sentence by sentence level.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?
I absolutely have to have music. Coffee and half a bag of chocolate chips doesn’t hurt, either.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?
All I really want in life is a TARDIS. :-)

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?
Well, I have googled some pretty weird things for work, but for Set Me Free, one of my quirkier google adventures was when I was trying to figure out what my heroine’s dog, Ferdy, would look like, and how big he would be. Ferdy, a rescue dog, is part Great Dane, part Newfoundland. I actually made a little chart for both breeds’ growth rates and weights and such, based on my research. I also looked at a lot of pictures of Newfie and Great Dane puppies--a real hardship, I know. ;-)

Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably...
Working, or hiking with the hubby, or occasionally drawing.

Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.
Big thank yous to my crit partners, Alexa, Isley, and Becky, thank you to my Wattpad peeps, and thank you so much to We Do Write and Giselle, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

Author Bio:
Hello! I’m London, a writer, lawyer, and life-long New Englander. I write all flavors of romance, from surreal fantasy romances to raw gritty contemporaries. I also write across the gender and sexuality spectrums. Everything I write is a little bit funny, a little bit sad, and probably kind of strange.
You might know me from Wattpad–my Wattpad Featured Read, Set Me Free, a Gothic romance, will be released as an ebook and in print in summer 2016.
My gritty erotic romance, Breathe, is currently being serialized on Radish, a free app. It will be released in ebook/print as well sometime after Set Me Free.

And now for the post!

Thank God I’m a Millennial
How Technology Gave Me a Career
by Calista Lynne

When life give you lemons, you don’t start complaining about how back in the day we got on perfectly well without lemons and lemons are just making children stupid. No. You make lemonade. The internet is lemons to the max. Everything we want to know is available to us and with enough clicking, we can learn just about anything. If I hadn’t bought a crappy laptop three years ago, I wouldn’t be a published author right now. Every single writing job I’ve gotten has been through the internet, and when I’ve been commissioned to write on something I know nothing about (Canadian music festivals for pre-teenage girls), there are thousands of resources I can learn from and credit.
Let me begin with the odd way I found my publisher. Several years ago I entered a contest for young adults who wrote LGBTQ stories. It was floating around on Tumblr and seemed like something I could manage.
I lost.
The winner was going to get published in a nice little anthology and I had already prepared how I would tell my friends and family that I was a legitimate, published author. When the rejection came I didn’t feel sad, instead I got angry. My retaliation was to go and write an entire novel aimed specifically at that publisher. They loved it. A year later I  embarked on the editing process and it was all because I coincidentally saw one Tumblr post.
Speaking of coincidental Tumblr posts, I found my presumed career path (front of house theatre management and writing novels on the side) because I just stumbled across a call for stewards at the Shakespeare’s Globe one day. But that’s a completely different matter.
While writing my first novel, I knew I wanted it to feature asexual characters, but wasn’t an expert on asexuality. Google came to the rescue, and with a bit of reading and posting on various forms of social media, I was put in touch with proud asexuals who were more than happy to help me write accurately and positively. In an age before technology, I would have been lucky to even find someone out about their lack of sexual attraction. I used a similar method of posting all over social media and generally begging people who seemed amenable in order to find beta readers. People want to help; people like to read. I found some lovely ladies who were more than happy to read an early version of the novel and help me shape up.
Amanda Palmer, a fantastic musician and writer, encourages artists to do something she calls “taking the donuts”. You have to overcome fear and learn to ask people to help you, be it with the writing itself or marketing, because they will. She says the reason why we don’t reach out and ask questions or for assistance is because “it comes back to that same old issue: we just can’t see what we do as important enough to merit the help”. Recently I have been trying to follow her advice by reaching out to individuals on social media. I message asexual blogs and they’re generally more than happy to promo me. The only reason I have been able to market my novel the bit I have is because other people from the business have seen my attempts and stepped up to give me fantastic advice. If you can’t tweet, find someone who can and ask for help, and then go tweet everyone of interest. People generally want to see success and are willing to put in a small amount of effort, which helps artists a lot.
Through social media and the internet it is so easy to get word out about anything. Who needs billboards when Tumblr book photography goes viral? I see nothing wrong with embracing technology as the blessing it is and using it to it’s fullest extent. That doesn’t make me less of an artist. It makes me capable of using my resources.

Calista Lynne grew up on the American East Coast and is currently studying in London. She is having difficulty adjusting to the lack of Oxford commas across the pond and writes because it always seemed to make more sense than mathematics. Look for her near the caffeinated beverages.
