Special Announcement!

We Do Write has a fun announcement to make. Back in the summer of 2010, I interviewed a writer named Elizabeth Holloway. Since that time, lots has changed. Beth and I became critique partners. We were there for each other when I landed my publishing deal and she landed her agent. Now, I’ve invited Beth to co-author the blog, and she’s graciously accepted! I’m so happy to have her join me in this project, and I just know she’s got great things to escalate the value of the site.

And now, let’s hear an intro from Beth. :)
Thank you, Dorothy, for your kind words and for your seriously awesome offer!
I have to admit, when Dorothy asked me for that first interview, way back when, I was so tickled. Someone liked my concept so much they wanted to interview me? Me? What? I felt like a real writer, like maybe I had something. Then I learned how very, VERY far I still needed to come. Fast forward two and a half years and I can safely say we have both come a long way.
Dorothy's novel, My Sister's Reaper, a story I am proud to say I had my greedy little hands on from the beginning (yes, you should be jealous), is soon to be published! And I was fortunate enough to find an awesome agent who works tirelessly to get my novel, Call Me Grim, out into the world.
It only makes sense for me to take this next, slightly terrifying, step in my journey (blogging) right here on We Do Write. I can't wait to get started!

We Interrupt this Blog ...

Hey folks! As you probably have noticed, I've been skimping on the posts lately. Sorry about that. I'm on a self-inflicted writing deadline, and this month is going to be harsh. So I thought it would be best that I didn't stretch myself out too far and sacrifice quality. What does that mean? It just means I'm taking a blog hiatus for the rest of the month. I wish I could take a hiatus from work as well, but I don't think I could swing that. A laundry-dishes-vacuuming hiatus sounds good too. Shucks.

In any case, I'll be back in November with more exciting author interviews and updates. In fact, if you're a writer who wants to talk about your work, send me an email at dorothyanndreyer [at] gmail [dot] com, and I'll get back to you about doing an interview or featuring your book.

Also, I'd love to do another agent-judged contest, so I'll be looking into that after my hiatus as well. Stay tuned!

Enjoy October, everyone!

Brand Spanking New

I don't know about you, but I like clean slates. I like cracking open a brand new notebook and the look of an unscribbled-on calendar. I love the feeling of starting new, starting fresh, and all the possibilities that lie ahead. And that's what I love about a new year. I hope we can all make the most of 2011.

Now that the holidays are over, I'll be getting back to my regular blogging schedule. Please excuse me if I drag a little during this month, but I'm sure I'll be off and running again at full speed by February (or at least, I hope so).

That said, I wish you all splendid success this year! I'm open to interviews, if any of you would like to talk about your books. And if any one has exciting writerly news to share, I'd be delighted to hear and blog about it. :)

Aaaaaand BREAK!

Okay, my friends. Here's the deal. My family and I are going on vacation starting tomorrow. We will be in Singapore for two days, then flying to the Philippines where my mother's side of the family has put together a huge reunion. I mean HUGE. She has ten siblings, and they all have kids, and their kids all have kids. So, um, yeah. HUGE. But I'm very excited. My hubby and kids haven't been to the PI yet (that's short for Philippine Islands, in case you couldn't connect the dots) so it should be very interesting.

So all that to say, I won't be updating the blog while I'm gone. However, I will be back in two weeks with more awesome interviews for your reading pleasure. And if you're a writer who might want to be interviewed, leave me a comment with contact info and I'll get back to you when I return.

Until then, I wish you all a great mid-October!

Awards in Waiting

Hi there! Told ya it'd be spotty blogging once I started my new job.

I was going to post all the super cool blog awards I've been given recently, but I'm supposed to pay them forward. And though I've got some super cool bloggers in mind to pass the awards onto, I think I'm supposed to have a list of 15. So that means looking through my list of blogs I read. In any case, my time is limited this week (parent-teacher conferences up the wazoo and staff meetings at my new job) so I'll have to post them on the weekend when I'll hopefully have more time.

Just wanted to pop in and say I'm still alive, just slightly delayed.

I hope you're all surviving September. Miss ya! More interviews coming next week!

Life is about Ass

Hi there! Happy Friday! So I just wanted to keep you all informed, because I tend to share even if it's sometimes too much. But this is blog related, so I don't think it's TMI.

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you might have seen I got a new job, which I start on Monday. While this is great news financially, it does mean I will have less computer time. I'm sure after I've adjusted to the change I will figure out how to handle my full-time job/kids/house/husband/novel-writing/blogging schedule better, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up that there may be a period of spotty blogging. Don't worry, I have a bunch of great interviews already lined up, but I don't want to simply "throw" them up on the ol' blog in a haphazard way. I like to give my followers something pretty to look at.

Okay, so now you know. I feel I've fulfilled my duty. Have a great weekend, everyone!
