Summer Reads

I've got two gift certificates from a certain online store burning holes in my pockets. I'm so excited to use them to buy some summer reads. The problem is, I can't quite narrow down my top picks.

I have a deadline though. Not that these GC's expire, but I'm going on vacation at the beginning of July. Which means I need to decide what to order BEFORE then.

Without me mentioning what's on my TBB (To Be Bought) list, I thought I'd ask you what you recommend. So have at it. Leave me a comment with the top three must-read books I should take with me on my vacation. And I'll try my very best not to buy every single title mentioned. ;)

I've just read and LOVED, Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts and Hush by Cherry Adair.
Also, the new Janet Evanovich is due out on about the 17th of this month.

Thanks, Katt! I LOVE Nora Roberts. I have many of her books, so I would of course love to add to my collection. Thanks for the other recs as well, I'll look into them. ^_^

I'd have to recommend The Summer Book and Fair Play by Tove Jansson, if you only know her from the Moomins you're in for a real surprise, and The Shadow of The wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Didn't know what to expect with this but can only describe it as the offspring of Robert Louis Stevenson and and Garcia Marquez. It's an odd but oddly gripping book that veers between pulp novel and art novel.

Ooh, vacation reading. Let's see....a few suggestions to consider if your list is still in the air....
THE BOOK OF TOMORROW by Cecelia Ahearn
THE GIRL WHO CIRCUMNAVIGATED FAIRYLAND IN A SHIP OF HER OWN MAKING by Cathrynne Valente
KINDRED SPIRITS by Sarah Strohmeyer (doesn't release til later this month, but perfect timing for the trip)

Happy reading! ^_^
