Interview with Cindy Miles + GIVEAWAY

Today we have Cindy Miles here for an interview. Ms. Miles is the author of the NA romance STUPID GIRL. Check it out! And also check out the giveaway at the end of this post!

Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles
Publication date: May 13th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance
Synopsis:

Only fools fall in love…
After her senior year of high school leaves behind nothing but heartache, Olivia Beaumont is sure of
this: She’s no stupid girl. She sets out for Winston College, promising herself that she will remain focused on her first and only love – astronomy. But all it takes is cocky sophomore Brax Jenkins and an accidental collision with a football, to throw her entire year off course.

A quick-tempered Southie who escaped the inner city streets of Boston to pitch for Winston, Brax is known to play way more fields than just the baseball diamond. So, when his name is drawn to take part in his fraternity’s hazing dare, Brax eagerly accepts the mission to take Olivia’s virginity. But he doesn’t plan on falling hard for the sweet and sassy Texas girl who sees right through his bad-boy persona.

As Olivia and Brax battle their feelings for each other, echoes of the past year begin to surface. A boy who once turned Olivia’s whole world upside down reappears, and “harmless” pranks wreak havoc. Pretty soon the aspiring astronomer is on the verge of revealing her most difficult, heartbreaking secret. All the while, Brax must wrestle with the irrevocable dare, and Olivia struggles against all logic as she does the one thing only a stupid girl would do: fall in love.

Hi, Cindy! Welcome to We Do Write. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi and thanks for having me! I grew up in coastal Savannah, Georgia, have been married 27 years and have a daughter, son, and daughter-in-law. Plus some special little nephews who totally own my heart! I published my first book in 2006 and have had a writing addiction ever since! :) I’ve just completed my 13th novel and can’t wait to dig into the next one.

How long have you been writing?

I started writing my first novel (that one is printed out and stashed in a box under my bed where it will [probably] forever stay in 1998). So, 17 years. :) And, I’m still learning, to this day. I don’t think a writer ever stops learning, actually.

So true! Tell us about STUPID GIRL. What’s the story about?

It’s about a young girl who despite experiencing a terrible, emotional thing in high school, has overcome life’s hurdles and believes in herself. She is strong, cautious, and determined. But she doesn’t count on meeting the love of her life in the form of someone completely (at first) and seemingly opposite of her. He seems to be just out for a good college time, but secretly desires acceptance and family. Their love is a great one that builds from friendship first, and hopefully leaves the reader happy and fulfilled.

That sounds fabulous! How did the idea of the story come to you?

The characters came to me first, and I wanted the hero (BRAX) to be as brash and opposite as the sweet Texas heroine who has a penchant for studying the stars. And I wanted that heroine to absolutely bring the hero to his knees. And, she did. :)

Do you have a critique group/partner or beta readers, or do you self-edit?

I’ve two friends/writers whom I bounce ideas off of routinely (and they’re both fabulous!).

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I’m both. I plot the story in an outline, then I break the chapters down by listing them along with a single-sentence description. So I know the direction and the outcome. But a lot of secondary characters and scenes just emerge on their own. :) And I think that’s so fun!

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Writing after chapters 4-10. The “middle”. Lol, it always kicks my butt!

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Hmm. Maybe having a “special skills set” like the Black Widow? She’s bad-ass! :) Or, flying. Or the power of trickster, like Loki! (I’m a Marvel geek!)

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

That’s easy. And disgusting. “Do Buzzards have butts?” They Don’t! And I didn’t believe it when my husband told me so! Ack! They barf everything out. So NASTY!!!

Quick writing test! Use the following words in a sentence: intelligence, banter, and irrepressible.

The level of intelligence the mutant possessed stunned me.
Their witty banter echoed through the tunnel and broke the weighty silence.
He had an irrepressible air about him that showcased his cocky attitude. (??? LOL)

Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably... BAKING OR WATCHING A FAVORITE MOVIE

Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.

THANK YOU to Deidre Knight and the team at TKA for ALL of their support. My best pals Lily Dalton and Leah Brown, who’ve been with me since I started writing and have provided an endless well of brainstorming ideas. My mom, who is my BIGGEST fan, and the readers who’ve bought my books and taken the time to let me know how much they enjoyed it! THANK YOU ALL!!!

that he has a deep, sexy voice that makes her melt.

definitely knows all the right things to say to sweep a girl off her feet.

So Mindy drops her guard. She allows herself to fall for him. Before she knows
