Scion of the Sun Blog Tour: Interview with Nicola Marsh

I'm so happy today to host a fellow Month9Book author, not to mention USA Today bestselling author, Nicola Marsh! We're her next stop on her Scion of the Sun blog tour, and I'm excited for you all to get to meet her.

Welcome, Nicola! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi, Dorothy, thanks for having me.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve just celebrated my 10th year of being published, and I started writing 18 months before that. I love it, but feels like forever sometimes!

Wow, that's amazing. Congratulations! I love the cover of SCION OF THE SUN. What’s the story about?

It’s a YA fantasy/paranormal novel featuring a 16 year old girl who starts having visions of a mother she never knew, enrolls at a boarding school for the freakishly gifted C.U.L.T., and discovers she can teleport with the aid of the sun. What she discovers in Eiros, NYC’s ‘Innerworld’, opens up links to Celtic mythology, druids and an ancient evil…

Sounds so cool! How did the idea of the story come to you?

The first line of the novel popped into my head one day when I was falling asleep.
“I always thought cults were for crazies. Until I joined one.”
From there, the rest of the story developed.

I love finding out how stories are born. Awesome! Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Pantser. I like to have a rough 2 page outline of a story before I start writing, but once I’m getting words on the page, I’m pantsing all the way.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

The promotion! I love writing and I’m quite fast. But the rest of the stuff is a major time suck when I’d rather be writing.

I hear ya! What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

At the risk of sounding corny, all I need is my imagination. With that, I can write anywhere.

What are you reading right now?

Colleen Hoover’s Finding Cinderella. Love NA novels.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

The ability to transform air into money with a zap from my fingertips.

Right? Why haven't I thought of that? Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably ...

chasing after my kids.

An
d finally, where can people find you and your books online?

My books are available from all retailers.

Thanks for the fun questions!
