ALL THE FEELS by Danika Stone #giveaway @XpressoTours

All the Feels by Danika Stone
Published by: Swoon Reads
Publication date: June 7th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

College freshman Liv is more than just a fangirl: The Starveil movies are her life… So, when her favorite character, Captain Matt Spartan, is killed off at the end of the last movie, Liv Just. Can’t. Deal.
Tired of sitting in her room sobbing, Liv decides to launch an online campaign to bring her beloved hero back to life. With the help of her best friend, Xander, actor and steampunk cosplayer extraordinaire, she creates #SpartanSurvived, a campaign to ignite the fandom. But as her online life succeeds beyond her wildest dreams, Liv is forced to balance that with the pressures of school, her mother’s disapproval, and her (mostly nonexistent and entirely traumatic) romantic life. A trip to DragonCon with Xander might be exactly what she needs to figure out what she really wants.

We Do Write Interview: Danika Stone

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I live in my head and write about it.
(Long Answer / Official Bio: Danika Stone is an author, artist, and educator who discovered a passion for writing fiction while in the throes of her Masters thesis. A self-declared bibliophile, Danika now writes novels for both adults (Edge of Wild, The Intaglio Series and Ctrl Z) and teens (All the Feels). When not writing, Danika can be found hiking in the Rockies, planning grand adventures, and spending far too much time online. She lives with her husband, three sons, and a houseful of imaginary characters in a windy corner of Alberta, Canada.)

Tell our readers a bit about ALL THE FEELS. What’s the story about?

All the Feels tells the story of an uber-fan, Liv Walden, who has followed the sci fi Starveil series for a decade. When her favorite character is killed off, she and her best friend, Xander, an aspiring actor and Steampunk enthusiast, launch a campaign to bring him back from the dead.

How did the idea of the story come to you?

Two things sparked the idea for All the Feels. First, there’s the story of how fans insisted that Arthur Conan Doyle bring the character of Sherlock Holmes back after the author killed off the character. Secondly, my friend, E, is @CoulsonLives (on twitter). Her tireless campaigning to bring back the character of Agent Coulson resulted in his revival on Agents of Shield. Whenever I think of those two events, I’m reminded of just how much power fans have!

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I’m a bit of both. I don’t start writing until I have a good idea for a story, but I’m totally okay with off-roading while I’m in the middle of a plot. My theory is that even the best laid plans have room for improvement if you are inspired!

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

I LOVE first drafts, but I loathe editing. Since I already know how the story goes, I find it hard to keep myself motivated.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

Coffee, phone, and the all-powerful ‘to-do’ checklist (which is how I keep myself motivated even when what I’m writing is a revision.)

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to move through time. I don’t even care if I could interact. I’d just like to be able to watch historically-accurate events.

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

I have an (as-yet unpublished) science fiction novel and I researched a LOT of theoretical physics when I was writing it.

Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably ...

If I’m not writing, I’m probably plotting out the demise of a character.

Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.

Thank you to ALL the people at We Do Write for inviting me to be part of this. You ROCK! Thanks also to the bloggers, reviewers and readers who have made All the Feels everything it has become. On that note, a big shout out to the ladies of Swoon Reads who gave me my dream job the day they called me up to say they were thinking of publishing All the Feels. On a personal note, an enthusiastic thank you and “I owe you one” to my husband and biggest collaborator. He has – quite literally – read everything I’ve ever written out loud, drew the cartoons for All the Feels, and happily tolerates the inordinate amount of time I spend writing. That’s love, folks. Lastly, I need to thank my friend, E, the very real person behind @CoulsonLives, who skipped out of Dragon Con for an afternoon to talk writing, life, the universe and everything in between.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

Thank YOU for having me!

Author Interview: Caroline A. Gill #blogtour #giveaway

Flying Blind
Caroline A. Gill
(The Flykeeper Chronicles, #2)
Publication date: May 21st 2016
Genres: Dystopia, Paranormal, Young Adult

In a broken America, seventeen-year old Iolani Bearse encounters a world full of wonder and danger.
Lani discovers a secret: houseflies have magic.
Stealers have no mercy.
Armed with memory-draining lanterns, the stone-cold hunters relentlessly follow catastrophes, laying traps, preying on the weak.
Together with her father, Eleanor, Sam, and Mango, her beloved pinto mare, Lani rescues victims from the grasp of Memory Stealers. One by one, she saves whomever she can, looking for any path that leads to safety. When her family’s farmhouse is attacked, Lani must act quickly to save those she loves.
Can Lani unmask their powerful, hidden enemies before the flies’ magic fails and everything burns to ashes?
Will the loss of one of her greatest friends become her downfall?
Can Lani overcome the evil that is tearing her world apart, flying blind?

Author Interview

Hi, Caroline! Welcome to We Do Write. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Thanks for having me here! I am a novelist and I say that proudly, it’s been quite a journey to get here. Growing up in southern California, Florida, and Utah gave me a perspective on what it means to be American. There are so many ways we are all different, but we are still the same. I met the love of my life at UCLA, and married him nine years later. We have four sons and a daughter who rules us all and now live up in the midst of the sequoias of northern California. Trained as a fine artist, I received an MFA in printmaking and metalsmithing, and a Masters in Art History. I love teaching but for now that skill is limited to the small copies of myself running around the house. I started writing to keep myself sane. The kids can mess up a room in five seconds flat, but what I write or draw stays safely tucked away. At the end of each day, I know I accomplished a measurable thing. It makes the weirdness of kids’ messes tolerable. Dishes are dishes. They never end. But page by page, a novel is written.
Tell our readers a bit about FLYING BLIND. What’s the story about?
Flying Blind is the second book in the Flykeeper Chronicles. It is the continuation of Iolani and Malcolm’s journey.
Flying Away started when Lani was fourteen. She is sixteen when Flying Blind begins, living on her family’s farm, saving people when she can. She sees the danger around her and feels that it is her responsibility to fight what others cannot. Using flymagic, she watches the memory stealers arrive at emergencies in fake ambulances and use the disorder of disaster to empty the minds of stragglers and other abandoned people. Lani fights to save whomever she can.
And then, she is betrayed. Her farmhouse is attacked and Lani must flee for her life, saving all those who are precious to her with the flysight and hope.
She tries to find safety only to be turned away and imprisoned.
Now, Lani must bargain for her life in order to escape a lifetime of slavery and misery. Can one girl outsmart the traps laid all around her? Can Lani save those she loves, flying blind?
How did the idea of the story come to you?
I wrote Flying Away two years ago as part of National Write a Novel in the month of November. I had these ideas of an orphaned girl staring out the window, lost in sorrow and of the houseflies that flew around her. And I thought, “Why can’t there be magic?” Magic comes from wonder and belief. Magic is found in the simplest of things. Even unattractive objects become beautiful when they are loved. That is what houseflies are, for me: pests who hide a wild, unknown magic that can save the world.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
The characters are pantsed. They write themselves for the most part. But I sketch a skeleton of a story frame, following a plot line and interacting surprises. I feel like that is the only way to write: I have to know where I am going to find my path there.
What’s the hardest part of writing for you?
In a household full of children, there is only so much ps3 or Disney I can absorb before I can’t concentrate. Ear plugs are my friends. With them, I can hear what is happening but the shrieking is more of a soft lullabye ;)
What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?
A brilliant light, a leather chair, some sunshine, dark chocolate, a Monster drink, and a cuppa.
If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Stopping Time. It marches on, so quickly, so relentlessly. It really is true: we are all dust in the wind. Seize the day, my friends, and hold on tight.
What's the weirdest thing you've googled?
What are the symbols and meandings of the words written on the carpet in the Oval Office?
Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably …
Sitting at a park, drawing or napping whilst madly planning the next chapter.
Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.
I really appreciate you taking the time to support Flying Away and Flying Blind. Writing a novel about something as pest-y as flies has meant getting down and dirty in so many ways.
Giselle at Xpresso Book Tours has been really helpful to me. SASS has promoted my work and cheered me on with enthusiasm. Thank you, Mel, Julie, Sabrina, Gaynor, Stacie, Jo, and Casey.
Cheer Papworth has been a HUGE help as has Amy Bartelloni, Audrey Southwick, and Jennifer Long. There have been so many times when I was frustrated with the book’s cover, and all of them were so patient with me as I finessed the final design. Kate Corcino has had my back almost daily as I work through plot and marketing challenges. Maria Pease has been an absolute joy to work with as an editor. I really value both her insights and her enthusiasm. Mostly, I really want to thank Lathe Gill, my husband who shares his life with me, through thick and thin. You are my anchor, baby.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

About the Author
Unusual stories attract me, ones in which the reader cannot easily see the ending or most of the journey. Visiting Rome during university studies, I found a simple truth sitting on buses, traveling all over the ancient city: the joy is in the Journey, in the people I meet, not in the destination. So, I write for you. I write for sanity. I write for chocolate and really good pizza.

From GodsFrom Gods (Book #1) by Mary Ting

Did you just see a flash of lightning across the sky on a clear sunny day?

Don’t blame Mother Nature.

Skylar Rome can’t wait to spend her last summer before college with her cousin, Kayla. Everything changes when they meet the Grand brothers. Skylar is sure she should stay away from Mason Grand, but their attraction is undeniable. Then Skylar’s life erupts into turmoil. She steps into a world where descendants of ancient gods have super powers, evil beings chase her, and questions arise about her own identity. She is running out of time and running for her life, while trying to unravel the mystery of what they want from her.

Forced into a battle set into motion long before she was born, will Skylar find the answers she seeks, or will she die trying?

“Mason, MASON, MASON!” Skylar panicked.

“I know. Skylar, hold on tight. I’m going to brake.”

“But there are cars behind us.”

“We have no choice. Don’t worry. I got this.” Mason pushed down on the brake forcefully. The car hydroplaned to the right. “Hold on.”

Skylar gripped the first thing her hand found. The water from the road jetted up into the air like in a water show, but the car kept gliding sideways, until finally it spun in a full circle and stopped. With no time to waste, Mason turned it to the right and accelerated, hoping to dodge what was coming toward them.

Out of nowhere, a long piece of ice, taking the form of a spear, darted through the trucks’ tires and punctured some of them. More ice spears came soaring out of the rain, but this time ten or more sphere-like ice balls followed, denting the sides of the trucks. One went through a windshield. With flat tires, the trucks now glided as if skating on ice, maneuvering from side to side.

“Did you do that?” Skylar asked excitedly.

“No. Must be Poseidon’s kids. Where the hell are they?” Mason spread his right arm out in front of Skylar as if to protect her. “Bend down, Sky.”

One of the trucks hit another and veered off, hitting yet another one. The crash caused the trucks to flip and tumble, heading straight for Mason’s car. With a look of shock, Skylar held her breath. There was no time to move, think, or get out of the car, so she closed her eyes and prepared for the crash.

Seconds before impact, Mason’s car flew up into the air and over the trucks. Somehow, as if by magic, the water created a liquid bridge, guiding the car safely over, and then it thumped hard onto the ground on the other side. Without looking back, Mason sped away as the sound of screeching brakes and metal hitting metal blasted behind them.

Only things are not what they seem.
Can Kalysia and Dillan find happily ever after with the consequences of that night haunting them forever?
Will one fateful night destroy Kalysia’s future along with the future of the pack?

Author Interview
Hi, Nicole! Welcome to We Do Write. Tell us a bit about yourself.
I married by high school boyfriend. We have two daughters. I have always been a writer, but I never pursued it until a few years ago. I wrote an English paper for my daughter, and her teacher said it was so good that she should be a writer.
Tell our readers a bit about THE LUNAM CEREMONY. What’s the story about?
This book is about destiny. Are we born with a purpose? How much does fate play a part in the person we become? Kalysia was born into a bloodline that allows her to phase from human to wolf. She is the last of her bloodline and must produce an heir to keep her family in power. First, she has to find her soulmate at the Lunam Ceremony; an ancient ritual that enables the gene that allows her phase, it will also lead her to the man she will love for the rest of her life. Kalysia doesn’t believe in love at first sight, or love in general. When she matches with Dillan, the strongest male in the pack, she questions whether it’s fate or just plain lust. We watch Kalysia as she tries to decipher her feelings for Dillan, her supposed soulmate. While dealing with the burdens of her family and the role she is playing in their strive for power. When an unlikely proposition presents itself, Kalysia takes fate into her own hands. One night, one decision, that will grant her the freedom she’s always desired. Only things are not what they seem and the choices she makes will ruin not only her life, but everyone she loves.
How did the idea of the story come to you?
I love the British royals! I was watching an episode of Reign, and I was like, Hey I should write a modern day version of the Tudors. I wanted to create a world where arranged marriages and heirs to bloodlines still existed. Only I couldn’t write it in a way that made the characters likable. It felt too much like a cult. So, I made them wolves. Somehow turning them into humans that phase to wolves, made the story more believable. A girl born into a bloodline that forces her to conceive a child to save a dying species, seems more acceptable than a girl forced into an arranged marriage and pressured to have a child that will retain her family’s power. It’s all perception. In the end, it’s the same story which is about family.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I’m definitely a pantser! I usually try to plot about mid-way through, I never follow through. I have to sit and write whatever comes to me. Sometimes I have an ending or a scene that I am writing up to. That’s as much plotting as I can do.
What’s the hardest part of writing for you?
Time. I never feel like I have the time. When I do, I don’t feel like writing.
What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?
Ear plugs and coffee.
If you could have any super power, what would it be?
I’ve actually had many conversations about this. I choose teleportation. I want to snap my fingers and be in Paris eating breakfast, Greece for lunch, and then New York for dinner.
What's the weirdest thing you've googled?
How to open a bottle of air freshener from Pier One. I actually found a youtube video on it, from Korea.
Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably ...
…cleaning my house. Writing is my excuse not to clean.
Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.
Murphy Rae at Indie Solutions for the beautiful book covers she creates. She’s make book cover soulmate. To Holly for her amazing insight into my stories, her editing skills are on point. Elaine at Illusion Graphics for always hitting it out of the park on formatting. The Lisas’ for believing in my writing. My husband for understanding my need to write and not complaining when I have the light on past midnight on a Tuesday. My daughters for believing in magic and telling me when I’m being lame.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

Over twenty feet of surging seawater now separated her from her life-saving gear, and the force of it shoving through the submerged beach exit dragged her, spinning her around the rocky cave. Three feet of air was all that was between her and the dripping roof. Her fingers scrabbled to gain a handhold in the slippery walls, her legs fighting the current to gain access to the beach opening, ducking her head underwater, straining with all her might toward it, but the water pouring in beat her back.

Her mind spun frantically, jumping through stages in her life; despair at what Paul would think, angry at her stupid fantasy of living without the fear of the deadly water swirling around her. There was nothing but terror to believe in now. Who would be foolish enough not to be afraid of this living, breathing monster sucking the air from her lungs?

The top of her head brushed the rocky roof and she pressed her face to the broken surface, screaming and crying and pleading for help. This was it; this was the end of everything. She clawed desperately at the rocks, crushing her face to the melting air, pushed by the hand of the merciless sea. The last pockets sifted noisily up through the rocky ceiling, through small cracks and fissures that led to the surface many yards above, merging her dying screams with the thin whistling pressure of the triumphant ocean, disappearing into the darkening sky.

Because I Love You by Tori Rigby

Published by: Blaze Publishing
Publication date: May 17th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Sometimes, love is sacrifice.

Eight weeks after sixteen-year-old Andie Hamilton gives her virginity to her best friend, “the stick” says she’s pregnant.

Her friends treat her like she’s carrying the plague, her classmates torture and ridicule her, and the boy she thought loved her doesn’t even care. Afraid to experience the next seven months alone, she turns to her ex-boyfriend, Neil Donaghue, a dark-haired, blue-eyed player. With him, she finds comfort and the support she desperately needs to make the hardest decision of her life: whether or not to keep the baby.

Then a tragic accident leads Andie to discover Neil’s keeping a secret that could dramatically alter their lives, and she's forced to make a choice. But after hearing her son’s heartbeat for the first time, she doesn’t know how she’ll ever be able to let go.

Adopted at three-days-old by a construction worker and a stay at home mom, Tori Rigby grew up with her nose in a book and her fingers on piano keys, always awaiting the day she’d take her own adventure. Now, she goes on multiple journeys through her contemporary and historical romances. She longs to live in the Scottish Highlands, and her favorite place in history is Medieval England—she’d even give up her Internet and running water to go back in time! Tori also writes high-concept genre fiction as Vicki Leigh, and when she isn’t writing, she’s kicking butt in krav maga or attending classes to learn how to catch bad guys.
