I’m a full time writer. I married my college sweetheart and we have two boys ages 12 and 17. I have two attention demanding dogs, a Siberian Husky and a Beagle. I love to read, cook, and take pictures of abandoned buildings.

Tell our readers a bit about THE SHATTERED SEAM. What’s the story about?

It’s about a sixteen-year-old girl who goes with her uncle and his ghost investigating crew to an isolated island to film an episode of their TV show. And then it all goes bad when they realize the ghost of a long dead serial killer doesn’t want them in his home.

How did the idea of the story come to you?

I have always been fascinated by ghost stories and the paranormal. I devoured Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Robert McCammon, and John Saul books when I was a teen. Then I moved to all the ghost hunting and investigating shows on TV. And my love for these type of stories mixed with the sense of awe and wonder I found while visiting the Thousand Islands in New York. I loved the beauty of the area and the massive castles like Boldt Castle, Singer Castle, and the decaying Carleton Villa.

Sam’s story developed after I wondered what it would like to be a teen with “abilities” stuck in a castle like those. And if the castle was haunted, what could happen?

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

A bit of both. I have the basics outlined: characters, setting, opening, major plot point, and the ending, but make up the rest as I write.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

The first draft. I want to edit as I go, but it takes me too long to write if I do. I have to force myself to get the entire story out before I can start fixing.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

Tea and music.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

I would like to be invisible whenever I wanted. That way I could find out so much information and fuel my writer mind.

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

Hmm … I might get a visit from a certain three letter agency if I answered this question :)

How did the idea of the story come to you?

The book was inspired by the incredible female jockeys risking their lives every day for the horses and the sport they love. Also the beautiful valley we live in near Dayboro, Queensland (Australia) and the gorgeous thoroughbred farms near Beaudesert - we pass them often when travelling down to northern NSW and I've always wanted to set a story there.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Plotter all the way.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Making the time!

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

A device connected to the internet. For research of course *lol*

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

ARTIFICIAL is the story of a young woman, Syl, who lives in a post-apocalyptic city ravaged by Cull—genetically spliced bug monsters. She’s abducted while scavenging and her genes are spliced. How did the idea of the story come to you?

I knew I wanted to write something post-apocalyptic. I had this amazing, tragic world stuck in my head, full of shadows and broken glass, memories and monsters. The plot was a bit harder to nail down. I thought, what drives this character? Where does the tension in her story line come from? And then bingo! Why not make our heroine turn into the very creature she’s running from?

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Short answer: plotter. Long answer: my whole life I’ve been a pantser, and I’ve always had a huge issue with plot. The second I sat down and really brainstormed my plot, I had no issues with it anymore. It’s a lot easier to get the words onto the page when you know where the hell you’re going with it. I highly recommend plotting! Snowflake method, baby!

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

The actual writing part. I am the biggest procrastinator. YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, FaceBook, Tumblr—my worst writing enemies. I will do anything to distract myself. I honestly find editing so much fun. I’m working with something that’s already there. I think of writing kind of like a whole world trying to slip through a keyhole, all at once. That kind of thing can get overwhelming!

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

My phone. For distractions (duh) and to look up scenes in previous books in the series (I’m writing the third now). For some reason I prefer to look it up on my phone and not my computer!

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Flight. Kind of generic, but I think it would be amazing. I’m kind of obsessed with the sky. Also, could save a lot of money on airfare…

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

Robot dicks. LOL. When you’re writing about a sassy male sex bot, you gotta have a firm grasp on how his junk works.

We are definitely plotters. Lele also puts a lot of work and background into her Vines, we plan everything out in advance.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Getting started. The blank page is hard. But once I’ve overcome that initial anxiety, it’s easy.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

Gum.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

The ability to be everywhere at the same time.

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

I’m a bit of a hypochondriac so I’m always googling weird symptoms and convinced I have some odd disease.

Hi and thanks so much for featuring me in your lovely blog. Very briefly, I’m a full-time author of YA and middle-grade fiction. I love both genres for their very different appeal. My YA book about crisis and recovery (LA CASA 758) was published in Spain by Penguin Random House.

Tell our readers a bit about 12 HOURS IN PARADISE. What's the story about?

12 HOURS IN PARADISE is a departure from my last novel in that it’s a story purely about love and what one would be willing to risk in order to achieve it. My characters, Dorothy and Arash, meet in Hawaii while on

vacation. They decide to sneak out at night, away from parents and chaperones, to spend time together on Dorothy’s last night in Waikiki. It’s a memorable night because the two are strangers at the beginning of the night, but by the end they’ve come to know each other so deeply that the thought of walking away forever seems painfully impossible.

Great name for a female protagonist, wink wink. How did the idea of the story come to you?

About a year ago, I binge-watched “Before Sunrise”, “Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight”. That trilogy really intrigued me and made me wonder if it would be possible for teens (still in high school) to have a similar experience.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Most definitely a pantser.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Trying to make a place for my finished novel out in the real world. The actual process of writing, I adore. None of it feels hard.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

My good-luck smiley squishy ball with spindly black arms and legs, white gloves and super-fancy shoes. I wish I could show him to you, he’s very handsome.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

To be invisible without a doubt. I’m a natural snooper although I can’t do it in real life because it would be so rude. But if I was invisible…That’s probably why I became an author.

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

How to get a wild animal out of your chimney. This was for real life purposes, not for writing.
